State of the art facilities, top notch programs, hallmark medical services, and dedicated staff all play a part in our committment to your lifelong health.

Primary care for outpatient medical needs is conveniently located in the medicare certified Wellness Clinic. From routine visits to lab work, residents can take advantage of the personalized medical services given by our Duke geriatrician and staff nurses. Dental and pharmacy services are also easily accessed in the Clinic. Physical, occupational, speech/language,and massage therapies are available in our well-equipped rehab areas.

Support for a lifetime continues with the extensive services of our fully licensed and medicare certified Health Center. Its award-winning "neighborhood" design provides a home-like atmosphere to meet a variety of temporary and long term care needs. In six unique neighborhoods, assisted living, skilled nursing care, rehab, and memory support are available for Forest residents.  All rooms and baths in each neighborhood of the Health and Wellness Center are private, and meals are served in each neighborhood's own dining room or, if necessary, delivered to individual rooms. A full activity calendar is provided for residents in all neighborhoods. While each area offers care specific to each resident's needs, a unified community is created.

Three secured gardens provide a positive, aesthetically pleasing environment for residents to safely enjoy the outdoors. The gardens' walking paths provide more than just physical exercise; they allow residents opportunities to observe activities without requiring them to participate. The gardens are accessible from living areas and can be enjoyed without direct staff supervision.

Our Health and Wellness Center's physician services are provided through the Duke Division of Geriatric Medicine. Nursing services are provided by the professional, licensed, and certified staff members of The Forest at Duke.  

Not only in the Health and Wellness Center, but throughout the Forest campus, residents are protected by an emergency call system that provides 24 hour rapid response by on site medical personnel.

The Forest Life Care plan offers financial security and protects residents from the customary high costs of short term and long term assisted living, skilled nursing and dementia care.

The plan provides 15 days for overnight stays in the Health Center at no cost. As prepaid days are used, those days may again be replenished. One prepaid day is added on the first day of the month, following a month in which the resident has not incurred an overnight stay in the Health Center, back up to the 15 day maximum.

Only after any medicare benefits and prepaid days are exhausted, are residents financially responsible for Health Center stays.   Forest residents under the Life Care Plan benefit from substantial discounts of between 40% and 60% off the established per diem Health Center rates. To ease any financial concerns and to assure the appropriate health support, per diem costs are the same for any neighborhood in the Health Center, regardless of level of care.
